What a fun little DIY // The Bench Makeover project this was, I am pretty sure that finding this cute bench on Friday was meant to be! As I told you guys before, I had planned on making a bench from scratch, but I just hadn’t gotten to it yet. Until, last weekend where I was spared to build the bench from scratch by finding one at my local goodwill.

Removing all staples

This was more than just a hand full of staples!

This is how the old fabric was attached

Foam and batting were in very good condition.

Cutting out the fabric to fit the bench.

If you cut off the corners you will have less overlaying fabric.

Time to attach the new fabric covered Buttons, which I made from the leftover fabric that was used on the bench.

Fold the fabric and secure with staples.

I used 12mm staples to secure the sides.

Once the top fabric was secured, I attached the lower part of the bench with a 4″ wide strip of the same fabric used throughout. The paper strip will help you achieve a clean line once you flip the fabric down to staple on the bottom.

I used the old hanger bolts on my new legs (which I found at an antique mall). Simply drill a hole for your bolts and screw them in.

The finished project

Super comfortable with shoe storage underneath.
