A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by UncommonGoods.com and they offered me to check out their wonderful selection of home decor products. They offer bookends, art, decorative lighting, housewarming gifts, pillows and so much more. But that’s not all, UncommonGoods.com products are made by artisans working collaboratively in a low income country; or by a seasoned artist crafting each of his pieces by hand.
Bedroom Reveal featuring UncommonGoods
Living in government housing has been quite a challenge for me, there are not many options to shop for furniture or decorative items. But I am trying my best to work with what I am given, meaning that I have to be very creative and open minded.
To find inspiration for our current bedroom makeover, I went on Pinterest and Instagram, these are great places to develop a vision.
@MakingHomeBase has a beautiful news feed, it didn’t take me long to fall in love with this dresser.
But, as I mentioned previously there are not many options in Okinawa, Japan for specific furniture. I’ve been to numerous antique furniture stores on the island, but most stores had overpriced pieces or simply not what I was looking for.
This meant only one thing! BUILDING Time 🙂
Jen from JenWoodHouse had made plans for a beautiful bedside table, which I used to create my own version of. I added some extra details to the bedside table, and finished it with white milk paint.

UncommonGoods had a beautiful Cotton, Organic Hemp pillow, Heart Marks The Spot Pillow. It was perfect for our space!
I added the included hand painted heart button on the spot of our home state, Texas.
Heather Shaw created this plush, interactive canvas for her map-loving son so he could pinpoint where he was and where he’d been. A threaded needle and two hand-printed buttons allow you to sew a heart and star over your favorite or most meaningful corners of the world.

Beautiful. It’s not easy making a room warm and cozy using all neutrals but you blew it out of the park, simply gorgous!
Thank you so much Vivian.
