One of my favorite things to do is going through the boxes of buttons and other notions I got from my local reuse centre, and thinking of creative ways to use them. I came across these golden metal curtain rings one day and the idea came to me to make them into a statement necklace. It only took me 5 minutes to make!
This is what you’ll need:
- 9 big golden metal curtain rings
- 1 m (or 1.1 yards) of (black) velvet ribbon
Follow steps 1-8 illustrated in the above photos and repeat until you’ve used up all the rings. Make sure the ribbon is distributed evenly, so that the straps on both sides are of even length. Cut the ends of the ribbon diagonally and that’s it!
Now, tie your new fabulous statement necklace around your neck and you’re ready for a fancy dinner date or a pretty party.

Gold and black is always a winning combination in my book. I agree with you that it’s both elegant and bold. Bold and beautiful 🙂
Gorgeous! How long did you cut the ribbon? I’m making some as Christmas gifts! Thanks!
