You don’t need to be fashion savvy to notice lariat necklaces are all in. They are a sleek/modern take on tassel necklaces and today, I will show you how to make your very own simple lariat necklace.

What you will need:

chain (gold or silver) (or visit your local craft store like Joann’s or Michaels)
jumprings
charms
pliers & cutters

I have a variety of charms for this project to show you that you can style your lariat just the way you like it. It doesn’t have to be all metal but can have fun things like beads too!

Step one: Measure out 28.5 inches of chain and cut from your spool with the cutters.

Step two: Out of the cut chain, measure and cut out 26 inches. This will leave you with 2.5 inches of chain.

Step three: Open up a jumpring with your pliers and feed in one end of the 26-inch chain, the 2.5-inch chain and the other end of the 26-inch chain. Close the jumpring. Following this order helps balance out the drop section of the chain and make it look more professionally done 😉

Step four: At the other end of the 2.5 chain, pass an open jumpring and your charm. Close the jumpring and you are done!

I really love lariat necklaces because they are simple but very chic. Pair them with a simple white tee or a cute solid print dress.

  1. I’ve been looking for a tutorial about lariat necklaces because I think they’re really in! I’d probably add multiple charms as pendants though.
